And my first official review of P90X…

Chest and Back…

…I’ve just been worked.

It’s gonna take me a while to get used to the workouts - the flow, picking the right weights, what comes next, pacing myself, and most importantly, my form. I did all of the push ups on my knees, just because I wanted to get more reps in as opposed to struggling to do only one or two with straight legs. I was doing maybe only 2 or 3 reps of certain pushups and for the declines I could barely move my body down so I just focused on my form and keeping myself up on the chair for the entire time, but I definitely felt like I’ve been worked. I even shocked myself by doing a good amount of the dive bomber push ups - under the fence not back - on my knees of course, but still. Shoulder held up too, so I’m happy about that. I’m thinking that I might start the next workout on my toes and move to the knees. I still want to get my form down better though before I attempt that. I will also probably use the bands for the two exercises that use weights. I was having issues selecting the right weight to feel “the burn” and I think the bands will give me that. Besides, if I use them I won’t have to cart out all those weight trying to find the right one.

And then just when I was feeling all accomplished…

Ab Ripper X…

…killed all my self esteem! That mess is ROUGH! I was modifying all over the place and could only do 25 of the in and outs. The rest I just went at my own pace and was taking breaks left and right. I finally puttered out right at the end with the Mason Twists. I didn’t even need to lift my legs off the floor to feel that and I could only do half. I was just DONE.

I need mats. My knees are a little sore from all that kneeling with the push ups and pull ups as well since I’m using the bands. I did have a pillow under my knees, but it wasn’t very much cushioning and it kept slipping back from under me. I have a yoga mat so I’m thinking about buying another one or two along with some yoga blocks. I’ll go to Walmart tomorrow since I have the day off.

I put the scale away AGAIN. The only time I want to get weighed is at my weigh-in and I barely want to do that.

    Ab Ripper X - I hate it . . .

    but I love it.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do it. If I ever do Ab Ripper X and Plyo X, I will consider them some of my greatest achievements. =)
